Today you took your chapter 2-3 quiz and we read Chapter 4. You did a quick overview of what "theme" is in fiction and answered a writing prompt that begins to explore different themes in "Mockingbird."
Make up Work: See assignment under 6th block Today we read Chapter 2 and 1/2 of Chapter 3 in "To Kill a Mockingbird." You took notes in small groups about the characteristics of the different families: The Finches, The Cunninghams, The Ewells and the Radleys. Friday we will finish Chapter 3 and take a short quiz on what's happening in the plot.
Today, we reviewed adverbs and began reading Chapter 1 of "To Kill a Mockingbird." Please see the "Vocabulary" menu to get your vocabulary words for this next week. Your homework is to complete a "four-square" worksheet for at least one of your new vocabulary words and be prepared to share it with this class.
Today we prepared to read "To Kill a Mockingbird" by viewing Franklin D. Roosevelt's first inaugural address and analyzing it for issues that the country was facing during the Great Depression.
