Today we reviewed what "theme" means in a piece of literature and read Chapter 4. Make up Work: Review the first section of the power point below on "Theme," then read Chapter 4. Answer the following question: Choose one of the themes below. Think about a detail or event from Chapters 1-4, and write about how it relates to one of the themes in the novel (page 34 or 35): “Harper Lee brings up the theme of _________ when _____________(page #). This reveals the theme because________________________.” THEMES: Race/prejudice fear courage justice women’s roles growing up morals/ethics stereotypes family forgiveness/compassion.
Today we read Chapters 2 & 3 in "To Kill a Mockingbird." We will have a reading quiz first thing on Friday!
