We have two weeks until the AP Test. We will be reviewing the structure of Argument Essays - you got your argument packet today. For homework, finish pages 5, 6, & 7. Be prepared to discuss in our "argument groups" on Monday.

Nancy Mairs On Being a Cripple We took your diction work from yesterday and used it to write sample "mini-paragraphs" of diction analysis.
We looked at two sample essays and what separates the excellent from the average. We looked at how to talk about diction and did a short exercise in using diction adjectives. You'll use these to revisit your "Cripple" essays on Tuesday.

We'll go over the sample essays, and how you graded them, on Monday. no make up work for today. Today we looked at how rhetorical analysis has a place in the "real world" by analyzing two news articles that talk about the rhetoric of race. You did a SOAPS analysis of the two articles with a focus on determining the author's purpose.
